Harry Coverdale, famous for his quiet manner and his habit of leaping before he looks, falls in love and finds the path anything but smooth. Fussy Mr. Crane, the lovely Alice and a crowd of dandies, rivals and friends fill a story that, as Smedley’s preface confesses, grew far larger than the short magazine tale he first intended.
