Standing like Ruth amid the alien corn, Gladys is a poor girl who works as a reaper in the harvest fields of a Welsh farming district. The farmer and his family, a miser and his wife, the squire and his household all play their part in her story as hardship, kindness and long-buried connections slowly come to light.
A quiet Victorian novel of rural Welsh life by a writer who knew it well. Download the free EPUB.
