In August 1803 Dorothy Wordsworth set out with her brother William, and for part of the way Coleridge, in an open jaunting car to tour the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands. Week by week she records the grave of Burns, Loch Lomond and Loch Awe, the Trossachs, Glencoe and Killiecrankie, the people they met, and a meeting with Walter Scott, with the poems William drew from the journey.
