A great river divides the dales, too deep and swift for anyone to cross. On one bank the boy Osberne of Wethermel, who kills wolves and receives a magical gift from a mysterious stranger, meets the girl Elfhild on the other, and they grow up loving each other across the water. When she is lost to him, he sets out on long wanderings of war and searching.
Morris’s final romance, finished shortly before his death, and an important forerunner of modern fantasy. Download the free EPUB.
