At daybreak on the desert a dying man calls three times for help, and a band of crusading knights rides up. What follows is a comic fantasy of plague, magic and a jinn whose idea of assistance includes turning a soldier’s armour into fur. Published in Imagination in 1953 under the byline Geoff St. Reynard, a pen name of Robert W. Krepps.
