Professor Challenger warns that the Earth is passing through a belt of toxic ether and summons his old companions, Summerlee, Lord John Roxton and the journalist Malone, to his Sussex house, asking each to bring a cylinder of oxygen. Sealed in a single room, they watch the world outside fall silent and keep a diary of what they believe are humanity’s final hours.
A short, eerie sequel to The Lost World from 1913, part disaster story and part meditation on mortality. Download the free EPUB.
