Twenty years after escaping Erewhon by balloon, Higgs goes back in secret and discovers that his ascent has been turned into a miracle: the Erewhonians now worship him as the Sunchild, with temples, relics and two worldly professors, Hanky and Panky, profiting from the cult. Told by his English son, the story also brings Higgs face to face with a son he never knew he had.
Butler’s sharpest satire on how religions grow from a single misunderstood event, a fitting sequel to Erewhon. Download the free EPUB.
