On a sunny clifftop above the sea, the artist Hardwick falls in love with Miss Enistor, whose father dabbles in dark occult arts and covets the fortune of a young man called Montrose. Black magic, clairvoyance, a sinister adept named Narvaez and ancient Chaldean star-worship borrowed from Theosophical writing pit the will to power against the protecting force of selfless love.
An occult melodrama from the author of The Mystery of a Hansom Cab, steeped in the Theosophical enthusiasms of 1900. Download the free EPUB.
