Satan, bored with eternity, takes on the body of a rich American named Henry Wondergood and travels to Rome to try life among men. Keeping a diary of his experiences, he meets a scientist, his beautiful daughter and a crowd of flatterers, only to find that human beings can be more cunning and cruel than the Devil himself.
Andreyev’s last work, finished just before his death in 1919, a dark satire on greed and modern civilisation. Download the free EPUB.
