In 1839 a group of Liverpool Anglican clergymen announced a course of lectures against Unitarianism, and three local Unitarian ministers answered them point by point. Their lectures, with the preliminary correspondence, cover what the Bible is and is not, the claim that Christ is God, the Trinity and the scheme of vicarious redemption, with James Martineau’s contributions the best remembered.
A landmark of English religious controversy and of Martineau’s early thought. Download the free EPUB.
