Earth has been destroyed, and the Terra IV is the only ship to escape, bound for Venus with men who must found a new race. Geddes and the bitter Irishman Hanlon grapple with the loss of everything they knew, while a frame story of Venusian explorers finding a primitive tribe on Earth sets up the twist.
