Watts rewrote the Psalms as if David had been a Christian, turning them into hymns in common, long and short metre for English congregations. Here are the originals of O God, Our Help in Ages Past and Joy to the World, alongside his versions of the penitential psalms and the complaints of the righteous at the prosperity of sinners.
A cornerstone of English hymnody, still sung every Sunday somewhere in the world. Download the free EPUB.
