Late in life, long after his novels had stopped selling, Melville printed small editions of verse for a handful of readers. This selection gives the sea pieces of John Marr and Other Sailors complete, with Bridegroom Dick, Tom Deadlight and The Haglets, and adds poems from Battle-Pieces, his response to the Civil War, along with its prose supplement on reconciliation.
Rough-edged but unmistakably his, these poems will reward anyone who has followed Ishmael to sea. Download the free EPUB.
