At the court of Cynthia, goddess of the moon and a figure for Queen Elizabeth, a crowd of vain courtiers drink from the fountain where Narcissus pined and grow ever more pleased with themselves. Jonson mocks Amorphus the traveller, the gallant Hedon, the fanciful Phantaste and their fellows through games, compliments and a final masque.
