At Mogador on the coast of Morocco, the judge Sir Howard Hallam and his unstoppable sister-in-law Lady Cicely Waynflete hire the smuggler Captain Brassbound to escort them into the hills. Brassbound has a grudge against Sir Howard and means to settle it, but he has not reckoned on Lady Cicely, who treats bandits, sheikhs and avengers alike as overgrown children.
