Offered to dreamers as a poem rather than a treatise, this essay on the material and spiritual universe imagines all matter radiating from one original particle, held together by attraction and repulsion, and destined to fall back into unity. Poe ranges over Newton, Laplace and Kepler on the way, and closes on the divinity of the soul.
