A gang from New York’s Bowery, including a fake cripple called the Flopper and a confidence man named Madison, hears of an old blind and deaf healer in a Maine fishing village whom the locals call the Patriarch. They plan to turn him into a money-making shrine, but the scheme begins to change the swindlers themselves.
A crime story with a moral heart, later made into a famous silent film. Download the free EPUB.
