Not tigers or bison but the lesser fry of India are Dewar’s subject: chattering mynas, noisy babblers, cuckoos, herons, pittas, wagtails, rock-chats, owls and squirrels. Written by a British civil servant who watched them for years, these short sketches cover roosting bee-eaters, falconry, migrating geese and the daily habits of the birds a resident sees around house and field.
A warm, observant field book for birders and anyone interested in the wildlife of the subcontinent. Download the free EPUB.
