Amanda Fitzalan and her brother Oscar are the rightful heirs of Dunreath Abbey, kept from their inheritance by a suppressed will. Amanda retreats to the cottage of her childhood, falls in love with the noble Lord Mortimer and is pursued by schemers and rakes through Wales, Ireland, London and Scotland, while storms of sorrow gather and break.
One of the great sentimental bestsellers of its day, read by Harriet Smith in Austen’s Emma. Download the free EPUB.
