Jack Keefe, the conceited ballplayer of You Know Me Al, is now a soldier, and his misspelled letters to his pal Al cover the voyage across the old pond, life in France, strategy, decorations and a flirtation with an Ernestine he soon regrets. Every boast reveals more than he means it to.
