Yonge tells English history as a series of detailed scenes, beginning with Rolf Ganger and the Norman dukes and moving through Earl Godwin, the two Harolds, Hastings, the Angevin kings, Eleanor of Aquitaine and the reign of Edward II. Each cameo gives enough personality and circumstance to bring a reign to life for young readers outgrowing simple story books.
The first of Yonge’s long Cameos series, still a pleasure for anyone who likes history told through people. Download the free EPUB.
