A compact survey by one of the leading Maya scholars of his day. Spinden describes the geography of Mexico and Central America and the coming of the Europeans, then the archaic cultures, the Maya with their calendar, hieroglyphs, cities and sculpture, and the later peoples of the Valley of Mexico, the Toltecs and the Aztecs, with their gods, warfare and arts.
A clear, illustrated introduction for anyone drawn to the ancient Americas, though research has moved on since. Download the free EPUB.
