Setting aside the tall tales, Allen follows David Crockett’s life with close attention to dates and evidence: his boyhood on the Tennessee frontier, running away to Virginia, his years as a hunter and scout in the Creek War, his career in Congress, and his final journey to Texas and death at the Alamo in 1836.
A sober, well-researched biography for anyone who wants the man rather than the coonskin myth. Download the free EPUB.
