In 1780, when the Tories hold the upper hand in South Carolina, Major Arthur Butler travels in disguise on a secret mission, guided by Horse-Shoe Robinson, a huge, shrewd Whig blacksmith. Captures, escapes, a secret marriage and the battle of King’s Mountain fill a novel Kennedy based on tales gathered in the Carolina backcountry.
A popular 1835 novel of the American Revolution in the South, still lively for its title character. Download the free EPUB.
