Otto is the son of Baron Conrad of Drachenhausen, a robber knight whose castle preys on merchants and rivals. Raised by kindly monks at St. Michaelsburg after his mother’s death, the boy is brought home to the Dragon’s House and becomes the target of his father’s enemy, the lord of Trutz-Drachen, in a world Pyle paints as dark and cruel.
A short, powerful children’s novel, illustrated in the original by Pyle himself, and a fine introduction to the Middle Ages. Download the free EPUB.
