In Egypt under the Ptolemies, the gifted young sculptor Hermon works toward a statue of Arachne, the weaver whom Athena transformed into a spider. His art, his loves, his loyal friends and the court politics of Alexandria all bear on whether he will ever make the masterpiece he dreams of, while old servants like Thyone urge him to try again.
A colourful historical novel by the Egyptologist whose fiction brought the ancient Nile to Victorian readers. Download the free EPUB.
