Wilfrid, a young thane, becomes the companion of Ethelbert, king of East Anglia, as he rides to the court of Offa of Mercia to seek the hand of Offa’s daughter. Along the way come the first Danish raids, boar hunts, the Flint Folk and the scheming Queen Quendritha, whose plot leads to the king’s death in 792 and the founding of Hereford’s cathedral.
A vivid Anglo-Saxon adventure by a parson-novelist who knew the old chronicles well. Download the free EPUB.
