On a still night, friends sitting on a wide veranda watch the moon rise, and one of them begins to describe a dream that has haunted him for years: a lonely house on the grasslands, the long grey shadows of evening and something enormous gliding through the grass. The telling grows more frantic as he insists the dream is coming nearer to its end.
