A secret society of thirteen men sworn to aid one another links three Parisian stories. In ‘Ferragus’ a husband’s jealousy uncovers his wife’s hidden past; in ‘The Duchesse de Langeais’ a soldier seeks revenge on a coquette who toyed with him; and in ‘The Girl with the Golden Eyes’ a dandy pursues a mysterious young woman kept in seclusion.
