A modest clerk living under the roofs of Paris keeps a journal through the year, from New Year’s gifts and the Carnival to summer walks in the woods of Meudon. Looking out of his window at his neighbours, he draws small lessons on contentment, charity, fame and power, and acts on them in quiet ways.
A gentle classic of French moral writing, long a favourite with English readers. Download the free EPUB.
