Francis Pretty sailed with Drake from Plymouth in November 1577 with five ships and about 164 men. His narrative follows the fleet through storms, the Strait of Magellan and up the Pacific coast of South America, where they plundered Spanish ports and treasure ships, on to the coast of California, across the Pacific to the Moluccas, and home.
