In 1921 Sir Ernest Shackleton sailed from London in the small ship Quest, bound for the Antarctic by way of Rio. He died suddenly at South Georgia in January 1922, and his second-in-command Frank Wild took the expedition on into the ice, back to Elephant Island and on to Tristan da Cunha, recording the voyage, the scientific work and the lonely island communities they met.
The official account of the end of the heroic age of polar exploration, written by Shackleton’s most loyal companion. Download the free EPUB.
