Homer’s poem is retold book by book in plain, dignified prose: the quarrel of Achilles and Agamemnon, the duel of Paris and Menelaus, the exploits of Diomed, Hector’s farewell to Andromache and the night raid of Ulysses and Diomed on the Trojan spy Dolon. A short introduction sets the Greeks and their world in context.
A long-trusted first approach to Homer from the Victorian scholar who retold so much of classical literature for the young. Download the free EPUB.
