The first half tells of the gods of ancient Ireland, the Tuatha de Danaan: the coming of Lugh of the Long Hand, the sons of Tuireann, the great battle of Magh Tuireadh, the Dagda and Angus Og. The second follows Finn and the Fianna through hunts, enchantments and wars, all set down in the cadence of Galway speech.
