Eleanor Hull retells the Ulster cycle for modern readers: how Conor became king, the boy-corps at Emain Macha, how the boy Setanta won the name Cuchulain, his training in Shadow-Land, and his defence of Ulster against the armies of Queen Meave in the war over the Brown Bull of Cooley, watched over by his divine father Lugh.
