Archdeacon Adam Brandon has ruled the cathedral town of Polchester for ten years, certain of his place and his God. When the subtle Canon Ronder arrives, Brandon’s authority begins to slip, and troubles at home with his wife, son and daughter Joan multiply until his pride brings him to a reckoning in the shadow of the great building.
A powerful study of pride and power, often compared with Trollope’s Barchester novels. Download the free EPUB.
