James Ollerenshaw is the meanest man in Bursley, comfortable in his frugal house and his property rents. Then his great-niece Helen, a schoolmistress with a will of iron and expensive tastes, moves in and begins to rearrange his life, his money and his social standing in the Five Towns.
A brisk, good-humoured Potteries comedy showing the lighter side of the author of The Old Wives’ Tale. Download the free EPUB.
