Montessori held a chair in anthropology before she was famous for schools, and this is that work: the measurement of children, growth and its variation, fatigue and its effect on learning, the school record of the individual child. Its craniometry and its assumptions about racial types belong squarely to 1910 and are best read as evidence of the period.
