Eugène Valmont was once chief detective to the French Government, until a lost case over five hundred diamonds cost him his post. Now a private investigator in London, he narrates his cases with Gallic self-satisfaction: a bomb-thrower, silver spoons, a miser’s missing fortune, an absent-minded coterie and a club-footed ghost.
Witty Edwardian detective fiction whose pompous French sleuth anticipates Hercule Poirot. Download the free EPUB.
