Muskett argued in 1893 that Australians had transplanted a cold-climate diet of meat and pastry into a semi-tropical country and were suffering for it, and prescribed the alternative: fish, salads, vegetables, fruit and light wine — with several hundred Mediterranean-style recipes to prove it possible.
