Twain began writing about Angelo and Luigi, Italian twins joined in one body, who arrive in a Missouri river town, and found the farce turning into the tragedy of Pudd’nhead Wilson. He pulled the twins out and printed their story separately, with his own comments on how not to write a novel: Ma Cooper gets confused, one twin drinks while the other gets drunk, and a court case collapses.
Twain at his most mischievous, a revealing glimpse of his working methods for anyone who loves his humour. Download the free EPUB.
