George Finch, a timid young man of means with a penthouse on top of the Sheridan apartment house near Washington Square, wants to be a painter and falls for Molly Waddington. Her overbearing stepmother, a prohibition raid on the Purple Chicken restaurant below, a stolen necklace and George’s know-all friend Hamilton Beamish turn the road to the wedding into farce.
