In a New York actors’ club, wealthy Jimmy Pitt boasts that any man could burgle a house, and accepts a bet to do it himself. The escapade throws him together with a professional cracksman and with Molly, daughter of a crooked ex-policeman, and the chase moves to an English castle where Molly’s father hopes to marry her to the impecunious Lord Dreever.
Early Wodehouse, published in Britain as A Gentleman of Leisure, full of the comic machinery he would perfect. Download the free EPUB.
