Gaudissart, the most persuasive salesman in Paris, can sell anything from hats to insurance and newspaper subscriptions. Sent into Touraine, he arrives in Vouvray boasting he will conquer it, and the townsfolk set him up for a fall by sending him to do business with Margaritis, a harmless madman with fancies of his own.
A short, sparkling comedy from La Comédie humaine, in Katharine Prescott Wormeley’s translation. Download the free EPUB.
