Spurned by his mother, Peregrine Pickle is raised by the eccentric naval commodore Hawser Trunnion in his garrison-like house, and grows into a clever, vain and incorrigible practical joker. He tours France and the Low Countries, chases the woman he loves, ruins himself in fashionable London and lands in the Fleet prison; the novel also contains the scandalous memoirs of a lady of quality.
Coarse, crowded and comic, a big eighteenth-century picaresque for readers who enjoy Fielding and Roderick Random. Download the free EPUB.
