In the Cabbage Patch, a poor neighbourhood by the railroad tracks in Louisville, the widowed Mrs. Wiggs raises Jim, Billy, Asia, Australia and Europena on optimism and ingenuity. Freezing mornings, a broken-down horse called Cuby and a hand-me-down blue alpaca dress are met with homespun philosophy, while a kindly ‘Christmas Lady’ finds her own life changed by the family.
A warm, funny American favourite of 1901, filmed and staged several times. Download the free EPUB.
