Archie Moffam, a cheerful Englishman back from the war, complains about his room at the Hotel Cosmopolis to the man standing beside him, who turns out to own it. Worse, Archie has just married that man’s daughter. Linked episodes follow as Archie looks for work, poses for an artist and keeps trying to win round the formidable Daniel Brewster.
