A kindergarten teacher wrote these short pieces for mothers to read to the very young, drawing on the ideas of Froebel’s Mother Play. Mrs. Tabby Gray and her kittens, a little gray pony, a boy who goes door to door to buy back a caged mockingbird and a giant called Energy all teach small lessons of kindness and work.
