Twinkle’s father sets a trap for the woodchuck eating his clover, and when Twinkle goes to look she finds herself the woodchuck’s captive and put on trial. In a string of adventures with her friend Chubbins, she sees the world of meadow, brook and woodland from the animals’ side, learning how they think about the humans who trap and hunt them.
