Drawing on the peasant tales gathered by Elias Lönnrot and the patriot scholars who followed him, Fillmore retells Finnish stories for young readers. Here are a true bride and a forest bride, an enchanted grouse, Terrible Olli, the Devil’s hide, a mysterious servant and the title tale of Mikko the fox, who makes his poor master’s fortune, along with comic tales of henpecked husbands.
Lively, well-told retellings that bring a less familiar European tradition to the bedtime shelf. Download the free EPUB.
